Elizabeth McCan, widow of Joseph McCan, and five of his other heirs petition for a division of his estate. They state "That when the dower and thirds of the slaves to which your oratrix Elizabeth McCan is entitled shall be laid off, the slaves remaining cannot be divided & the land will not be worth dividing." She asks that her "dower in the land and third in the slaves" be "laid off & assigned to her," and "that by a decree of this Court a Sale of the remainder of the slaves & land may be ordered."
