Petition #20781804

Abstract

The children and heirs of Anthony Tracy state that their father died, intestate, in 1811 in the state of Maryland. As his heirs and only children, they and his widow, Anne, should have divided his estate. Anne, however, married Samuel Berryman and moved to Kentucky, taking all of the personal estate and slaves with her. The heirs "are advised such conduct was highly illegal & that by adopting & pursuing it the sd Ann Tracy has forfeited all right & title to any portion of sd Intestates estate." Further, in Kentucky Anne has obtained letters of administration on the estate and has made an order for her dower to be allotted to her. The heirs ask that the estate be "duly accounted for & divided among these complts."
