Abstract
In 1812 or 1813, William Ellis died, leaving his wife Lucy a slave named Caroline, and a half interest in a slave named Dick, held in partnership with his brother David. Subsequently, Robert Ellis purchased his brother David's share of Dick. Lucy died intestate, and now her heirs request the court to order the sale of Caroline and the half interest in Dick, with the proceeds to be divided among the heirs.
