Henry Breckinridge states that he is the legal owner of a slave named Kiziah, who is ten or eleven years old and worth $500. He has been informed that George Floyd "clandestinely obtained the possession afd. and still holds sd. negro & refuses to deliver her." Further, he believes Floyd is insolvent and is going to sell the slave, after removing her from the jurisdiction of the courts of the Commonwealth. Breckinridge asks the court to subpoena Floyd and to require him to return the slave and to pay Breckinridge a reasonable sum for her hire during the time he possessed her.
