Madison Lensy holds no property except a slave named George, who is "a valuable fellow except that he is addicted to running away has run away frequently and is now in jail for safe keeping." Steele wishes to sell the slave and put the proceeds into some productive fund for the benefit of Madison and asks the court for authority to do so.
