Polly Thompson states that shortly after she and her husband, Abner Thompson, married, they moved to Virginia. Some time thereafter, when she was pregnant, he violently drove her from their home, and invited another woman to live with him. She was forced to take refuge in her father's house in Kentucky, where some years later Abner came and persuaded her to take him back. They had been living at her father's house for six months when Abner again abandoned her for another woman, she being again with child. Polly claims that Abner is in Russell County, Virginia, where he has land, a slave, and considerable personal property. Polly asks the court to decree that Abner pay her alimony for her and her children's support and to grant her a divorce.
