Petition #20783211

Abstract

William Davis asserts that "through his own imprudences and from the effects of old age" he is "utterly incompetent to the transaction of any kind of business whatsoever." Davis claims to have acquired sufficient property to keep him and his wife comfortable in their old age, but that his son John through "dishonorable and illegal arts induced and inveigled" him into signing over all his property and slaves. Now John threatens to turn his father and mother out of their house and to convey the slaves to the southern market to be sold. Davis asks that John be restrained from taking into his possession or doing anything with any of Davis's property and to decree that the conveyances be set aside and cancelled.

Result: Dismissed.
