John Jameson bought a field hand named Ann for $313 from the estate of William Fisher at public auction. There was some question concerning the slave's health. However, after Turner Fisher said "he would warrant her as sound as any slave sold there that day," Jameson executed his note to Fisher. Jameson later found Ann "to be labouring a complication of diseases rendering her entirely useless and good for nothing." Fisher refuses to take Ann back or to return Jameson's note. Jameson asks the court to compel Fisher to surrender his note, to take back said slave, and to reimburse his expenses “in the way of Doctors bills & nursing of said Slave.
