Abstract

Several years ago, Dennis Mahone purchased a slave named Charles for $850 from William Neel. Neel executed a bill of sale that warranted Mahone's title of ownership against all other claims, but recently Oliver Porter and others "recovered a judgment against your orator for the possission of sd. Slave." Neel has died, and Mahone charges that he is entitled to recover the current value of the slave, plus interest, from the administratrix and heirs of William Neel's estate. He asks for an injunction to stop the administratrix and heirs from disposing of Neel's property in the county until the case is settled and requests that he be reimbursed from the estate.
