Henry relates that his former owner John Sharp took him to Indiana, where Henry "by the Laws of Indiana had a vested absolute right to his freedom." Henry claims that he was induced to return to Kentucky by John Stagg, who then put him into the workhouse in Louisville as a slave and subsequently sold him to Simon Moses. He believes Moses is going to convey him out of the county and sell him as a slave for life. He asks the court to restrain Moses from doing so and to establish his right to freedom.
