Petition #20783820

Abstract

The petitioners are the trustees of the First Baptist Church of Lexington. They claim that they were left a one-third share in a lot in Lexington on which stands a hemp bagging factory and a one-third interest in a male slave named Sam. The other two-thirds are controlled by the heirs of Abram S. Drake. The trustees charge that the heirs have refused to pay them their one-third interest in the factory and slave for the years 1835, 1836, and 1837, so they ask the court to ascertain "the reasonable rent and hire of said premises and Slave, and decree to your orators one equal third thereof."

Result: Granted.
