Marshall Halbert claims that Henry Hawthorn owes him money for goods. Hawthorn is out of the commonwealth, but owns a slave named Tom, who is in the possession of William Oglesby. John Metcalf has an attachment against Tom for money Hawthorn owes him, and Halbert believes "that Tom is of value to pay and discharge both debts." He asks that Tom be taken into custody, unless Oglesby gives bond to abide by the final decree of the court.
