On 9 January 1828, Eliza M. Moore, a slave owner, "entered into a marriage contract or settlement by deed" with James A. Neal. Eliza's brother, Robert Moore, was appointed trustee of the property. Eliza reports that her brother has now moved to Hickman County, which is about 250 miles from where she and her husband reside in Hart County, rendering it "very inconvenient if not impracticable for the sd Trustee to attend to the duties of sd Trusteeship." She is therefore "constrained to ask his removal and the substitution & appointment of another Trustee in his stead."
