The children and grandchildren of the late William Head state that the "widow of sd. decedent has recently departed this life" and that they "are entitled" to "the negroes devised in said will to the widow of sd. decedent for life." Noting "the number of those among whom they [the slaves] are to be divided," they assert that the thirteen slaves "are not susceptible of an equal division in kind." The petitioners therefore believe that "a sale thereof is necessary for that purpose."
