Petition #20785405

Abstract

William Stansberry manumitted his slaves in his will, which was proved 1851. Molly, Elizabeth, and Elizabeth's daughter Anna are "the survivors of those made free." Molly laments that she "is an old woman, in feeble health -- unable to work or labour for her support, -- that, she is in present need of Assistance." She states that she is advised that Stansberry's will "made ample provision for her as well as his other Servants;" however, she points out that she has "never received anything whatever out of the said Estate." The plaintiffs seek "a full expose of the Condition of said Estate" from the estate's administrator, Alfred Thruston, and all proper relief to which they are entitled.

Result: Dismissed.
