Petition #20785802

Abstract

John Hedger and William Thornberry state that William Robinson and others executed a promissory note for $172 "for the hire of a negro man named Gilbert." The plaintiffs charge that Robinson has failed to honor a promise to pay the 1857 tax on Gilbert, which amounts to $2.60. The petitioners seek the amount of tax due plus interest.
