The Attorney General, Francois Martin, petitions on behalf of the State of Louisiana to detain and sell four enslaved men. According to the petition, Charles, Nero, Dick and Tony were illegally brought "from a foreign place or country viz from Pensacola ... to be holden sold or disposed of, as slaves." Martin "prays that, as they have thereby been forfeited to the State, the Sheriff may be directed to take & detain them."
