Willis Dawson seeks to recover a debt for the boarding and maintenance of several slaves belonging to Elijah Boddie who does not reside in the parish. Dawson represents that "Elijah Boddie is justly Indebted" to him in the "Sum of one hundred & twenty two Dollars for the boarding & maintenance of Three Negro Slaves" and "for the payment of the board of two Negro Slaves The property of said Boddie." Boddie refuses to pay the debt and, because he lives in Tennessee, "a personal process Cannot be served upon him." However, Isaiah Neilson of East Baton Rouge Parish possesses enough of Boddie's property to satisfy the debt. Dawson prays that an attachment be issued against that property and that a sufficient amount of it be seized to satisfy the debt.
