Abstract
John C. L. Martineau seeks compensation for the death of a slave named Harry. Martineau claims that Thomas Hooper, an overseer, did "willfully and designedly Kill and Destroy said negro man slave to the Damage of your Petitioner One thousand dollars." Martineau prays that the court will compensate him for the loss of his slave.
