Michel St. Amant claims that he purchased a slave named Jouanillo from Joseph Gerbeau for $1,200. St. Amant has since discovered that, contrary to the warranty given in the bill of sale at the time of the purchase, Jouanillo was prone to running away. In fact, Jouanillo ran away three days after St. Amant took possession of him. St. Amant prays that Gerbeau be condemned to refund the money and that the bill of sale be rescinded and declared null and void.
