Arlis Lubin César, a free man of color, asks the court to order posting of the notices required for the emancipation of his female slave named Mérantine, who is more than thirty years of age. He presents to the court that he desires to free Mérantine from all bonds of slavery ["tous liens d'esclavage"] as much for her excellent conduct in his service as to satisfy the engagement he made when he purchased her from her previous owner. He also vouches that Mérantine never suffered of the vice of running away [Original in French].
