Abstract
Marie Louise Collin, a free woman of color, presents to the court that she intends to emancipate her forty-eight-year-old male slave named Thomas. She vouches that Thomas is "exempt from all the vices contemplated by law to be set free." She asks the court to order that the "usual notice" be posted up by the sheriff "according to law."
