Abstract
Antoine Villard, a free man of color, presents to the court that he wishes to emancipate "from the bonds of slavery" his thirty-year-old female slave named Beatrix. He declares that Beatrix has always had a good conduct and has never "offered" to run away. He asks the court to order that the "proper" notices of emancipation be posted up for forty days according to law.
Result: Granted.
