Abstract
Jean Quessart is attorney-in-fact of a resident of France named A. Sallet. He presents to the court that Sallet wishes to emancipate his thirty-two-year-old male slave named Nelson, who has "always kept a good conduct and never offered to run away." Quessart therefore asks the court to order that "all the proper notices required by law" be posted up by the sheriff.
