Petition #20882249

Abstract

Agathe Thereze, a free woman of color, presents to the court that she intends to emancipate her female slave named Rosalie or Rose, who is also her daughter. She declares that Rosalie, who is above thirty years of age, has always "had a regular life," has behaved "with propriety," has been a "faithful slave," has never run away, and has never committed any crime "contemplated by law" in cases of emancipation. She asks the court to order the sheriff to make the "usual publications" according to law.
