Robert Brent argues that the sheriff, Balthazar Dupuy, under a writ of "fieri facias" issued against his brother, John Brent, did "illegally seize and take possession of eight slaves" belonging to him and his sister. Furthermore, Robert complains, Dupuy has "advertised the said slaves for sale under the execution aforesaid" thereby causing him to sustain damages in the amount of $1,000. Robert asks the court for an injunction on the sale of the slaves and $1,000 in damages.
