Petition #20882508

Abstract

Izabelle Franchebois seeks to be separated “in bed and board,” and in property, from her husband, Giovanni Questi. Izabelle Franchebois Questi represents that she married Giovanni Questi in 1813, “being then widow of" the late Jacques Deverbois. She charges that, over the last twelve years, Questi has treated her “with the utmost Cruelty” and his outrageous conduct makes her living with him any longer unbearable. On several occasions, Questi has "beaten, wounded, and kicked" her and called her a "whore." She therefore prays to be authorized to sue her husband and seeks to be separated in bed and board from him. She also seeks to recover the property she brought from her first marriage, which includes a plantation, another tract of land, slaves, livestock, and money. She also asks for an order directing that an inventory of the property in her husband’s possession be taken.
