William Penn accuses Louis Sompayrac [Samparat] of defaming his character “in the presence of many good citizens” of the parish. According to Penn, Sompayrac called him a “negro thief” and accused him of stealing “two negroes.” Additionally, Sompayrac charged Penn with conspiring with Francis Henderson to murder him. Penn asks for $1,000 in damages as a result of the “speaking of the said false & defamitory words.”
Result: Dismissed.
