"The Petition of Baptiste Tisoneau a free man of color of the quarter of Grande Prairie in said Parish of St Landry, most respectfully represents, that he is the father of three children to wit, Jose Tisoneau aged about seventeen years, Jean Charles Tisoneau aged about eight years and Mirou Tisoneau aged about nine months, all of whom reside with your Petitioner and are natives of the Parish-- that said children are now slaves-- that their mother the wife of your Petitioner has lately been emancipated, and it being repugnant to your petitioners feelings to hold his said children in slavery and having always had it in view to emancipate them, makes this application under the act of 31 January 1827 and most humbly prays that he may be authorized to pass an act of emancipation in favour of his said children, and as in duty bound he will ever pray."
