Clarisse, a free woman of color, presents to the court that the "Legislature of the State of Louisiana" authorized the emancipation of her mulatto son named Hilaire while he was still a minor. Hilaire, who belongs to her, is now of the age of twenty-eight and she wishes to proceed with the emancipation. She therefore prays the court to order that notice of her intention to emancipate Hilaire be posted according to law and to authorize her to pass the act of emancipation.
