Abstract
Marie Louise Dernoui, a free woman of color, presents to the court that she "has the intention of manumitting" her female slave and daughter named Charlotte, aged "upwards of thirty years." She vouches that her daughter has "always led a sober and regular life," and has never been guilty of any crime or "ill conduct." She asks the court to direct the sheriff to make "the publications required by law" in cases of emancipation.
