François Larche, a free man of color, presents to the court that he sought and obtained the authorization of the police jury to emancipate his two "natural," i.e. illegitimate children and slaves, a boy named Valsin and a girl named Charlotte, both "under the age of thirty years." He therefore asks the parish court to authorize him to pass the "deed of emancipation" and to order the sheriff to make "the usual publications," so that he can "legally manumit" his two "natural children & slaves."
