Petition #20882749
- Orleans Parish, Louisiana. cicra March 5, 1827. - July 7, 1827.
- Court: Parish
- Salutation: To the honorable James Pitot Judge of the Parish Court within & for the City & Parish of New Orleans
Abstract
Charles Byrnes, James M. Reynolds, Alexander Jackson and James T. Williams are the testamentary executors of the late Alexander Jackson. They present to the court that, in his will, the late Jackson directed that his thirty-year-old male slave named Jack be freed and that all the required formalities be fulfilled by his executors. The four men therefore ask the court to make the usual "provisional order," so that, if no person shows a legal cause to the contrary, the will of the testator can be carried into "complete effect" for Jack's emancipation.
Result: Granted.
