- Court: Parish
- Salutation: To the honourable the Parish Judge for the Parish and City of New Orleans, State of Louisiana
Abstract
Manuel Bady, a free man of color, presents to the court that he is "desirous to emancipate" his thirty-seven-year-old male mulatto slave named Jean Pierre. He vouches that Jean Pierre has always behaved "in a blameless and irreproachable manner." He asks the court to order that the "notice of the emancipation" of his slave be posted up, so that "all persons having any opposition" may file it in the legal delay.
