Gilbert Russell and Henry Barstow, merchants operating under the firm G. E. Russell & Barstow, seek to collect a debt. They explain that Durham Tudor Hall issued to them two promissory notes worth $3,062 each. The notes are now past due yet Hall refuses to honor them. Russell and Barstow pray that Hall be ordered to pay the notes with interest. A related document reveals that Hall owned two-hundred-and-fifty slaves.
