- Court: Police Jury
- Salutation: To the Honorable the President and members of the Police Jury for the Parish of Orleans
Abstract
Joseph Sauvinet, attorney in fact of the widow Dodard, a resident of the city of Bordeaux in the "Kingdom of France," presents to the police jury that he is "desirous" of emancipating a fifty-year-old female slave named Neonine, also known as Gnognon, in consideration of her "long and faithful services." He declares that Neonine has always "upheld an honest life," that she is "of sober, industrious habits," and that she is free from "any of the crimes and blemishes contemplated by law in cases of intended emancipation of slaves." He asks the police jury to authorize him to emancipate Neonine.
