- Court: Police Jury
- Salutation: À l'honorable Juri de police de la Paroisse d'Orléans
Abstract
Jean Cayol presents to the police jury that he wishes to emancipate his thirty-three-year-old male slave, also named Jean Cayol, who is in fact his "natural," i.e. illegitimate, son. He states that Jean, a goldsmith, is his almost sole support and has cared for him during a serious and almost fatal illness; and that he has nothing but praise for his enslaved son. He asks the police jury to allow him to free his son, without compelling him to leave the state [Original in French].
