Elizabeth Bills prays to be separated from her husband of five years, Hugh M. Blake. Elizabeth represents that Hugh’s “Excesses,” ill treatment, and adulterous conduct have made their living together “insupportable.” She alleges that Hugh has called her “a damn mulatto Bitch” and abandoned her, boasting that “he had other women to take care of.” Elizabeth therefore asks the court to grant her a separation in “bed & board” from her husband and prays for a judgment of “final divorce."
