Abstract
Baptiste Adlé seeks to collect a debt of $66,105.10 from Auguste Metoyer, a free man of color. Adlé claims the debt is due on various bills and notes he has collected from Metoyer over several years. In addition, Adlé confesses, “Metoyer is entitled to a credit of seven hundred dollars on the 1st of April 1838 being the only amount paid on said debts." Adlé prays for the court's assistance in gaining relief in this cause.
