Raymond Pierre Gaillard claims that George Deslond, a free man of color, is indebted to him for the sum of $1,839.56 plus interest, subject to two credits totaling $512.11. The debt arose from a note executed by Deslond in Gaillard’s favor in October 1836, payable in January 1837. Gaillard claims that, so far, Deslond has paid him $301.15 in the form of ten bales of cotton and $210.96 in the form of thirty barrels of molasses. The balance remains unpaid. Gaillard therefore prays that Deslond be directed to pay the debt, with 10% interest, minus the amount of the two credits.
