Petition #20884241

Abstract

Charlotte Perret, a free woman of color, presents to the court that she has purchased her own sister, a thirty-five-year-old Creole mulatto named Fragile, from the heirs of the late Noël Perret. The sale took place on the condition that Charlotte would promptly free Fragile. She vouches that Fragile has always been well behaved, has never been guilty of any crime, and has always been respectful toward whites; and that she is capable of earning a living and will not be a ward of the parish. Charlotte Perret asks the court to order posting of the emancipation according to the law [Original in French].
