Abstract
Vial Girard claims that François Jean, a free man of color, is indebted to him in the sum of $305 plus interest. Gerard represents that Jean acknowledged the debt and "agreed to pay the same by his cotton crop made during the year of 1842." The debt is now past due. Girard prays that Jean be made to pay the debt plus interest along with the costs of the suit.
