Luman Phelps seeks a writ of sequestration on sixteen bales of cotton. According to Phelps, John Yeager hired eight slaves, including "4 children," from him in exchange for sixteen bales of cotton and three hundred bushels of corn. Phelps's slaves "assisted in making a crop" on Yeager's plantation. However, Phelps now believes that Yeager intends "to remove said cotton or cause it to be removed as above stated before the same shall fall due, so as to defraud petitioner, and deprive him of his privilege on said Cotton." Phelps prays for a writ of sequestration on the cotton until the termination of this suit.
