Petition #20884809
- St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. April 14, 1848. - July 5, 1848.
- Court: District
- Salutation: To the Honorable the Judge of the Fifteenth Judicial District of the State of Louisiana holding Court in and for the Parish of St Landry
Abstract
Constant Chacheré seeks to be appointed administrator of the estate of Jacques Charlot Sr., a free man of color, whose estate includes both “moveables” and “immoveables.” Chacheré supports his request with the argument that he had been appointed “agent and attorney in fact” prior to Charlot’s death and was already engaged in the settlement of Charlot's affairs. Related documents reveal that Frosine Decuir, Charlot's widow, filed suit to oppose Chacheré's appointment.
Result: Granted; opposed; judgment against the plaintiff and the opponent; judgment for third party.
