Antoine Dubuclet, a free man of color, presents to the court that he is the owner of a twenty-nine-year-old male mulatto slave named Honoré, whom he purchased from Rosalie Belly, widow of the late Antoine Dubuclet, and now wishes to emancipate as a reward for "long & faithful and important services." He further presents that he has already obtained the police jury's authorization to proceed with the emancipation without having to give security as the law requires. He therefore asks the court to order the necessary "publications" required by law and to authorize him to "cause the instrument" of emancipation to be made.
