Abstract

Marie Mathieu, a free woman of color, represents that her eighteen-year-old granddaughter, Albertine Livie Darensbourg, a free woman of color, is about to marry a free man of color named Leon Decuir. Since Albertine's parents are both deceased, Marie Mathieu seeks to be appointed "tutrix ad hoc" for the purpose of authorizing the marriage, "if she deems proper." External sources reveal that Albertine Livie Darensbourg and Leon Decuir were married in June 1849.
