Abstract
Antoine Donato Meuillon, a free man of color, represents that his wife, Elizabeth Donato, departed this life a few months ago, leaving eight minor children, issue of their “legitimate” marriage. Meuillon seeks to be permitted to take the oath as “natural tutor” of his children. Related documents reveal that Antoine and Elizabeth Meuillon owned forty slaves at the time of Elizabeth's slaves.
