The petitioner is Antoine Dubuclet, a free man of color, the widower of a free woman of color named Claire Pollard, and the father of nine minor children. He presents that it was decided, at a recent family meeting, that it would be in the children's interest to adjudicate to him, at the "estimation" price, the property he holds in common with his children and to sell some slaves, property of his children as heirs of his late wife. Dubuclet therefore asks the court to allow "homologation" of the family meeting proceedings, adjudication of the property to him, and sale of the three slaves, Valère, Pierre and Jean Bar.
