Abstract

Zénon, a free man of color, presents to the court that Joseph Narcisse, also a free man of color, is "truly indebted" to him in the sum of $429.50 with "legal interest from judicial demand until final payment." He explains that he is the "holder and owner" of a promissory note signed by Joseph Narcisse, which has now reached maturity. He claims to have made amicable demand for payment from Joseph Narcisse, but the latter has so far failed to comply. Zénon therefore asks the court to condemn Narcisse to pay the debt with interest [Original in English and French].
