Adolphe Déchaux seeks to collect a debt from Martin Tounoir, a free man of color, and Florville Boligny. Déchaux informs the court that the defendants agreed to send their three children "to the school kept by petitioner in this parish for one year," for which they would pay him $120. They did send the children to the petitioner's school, but "at the expiration of about ten months they took them away without any cause whatever." Further, Tounoir and Boligny refuse to pay Déchaux "any thing for their schooling, altho petitioner paid every attention to them and all the instruction required or that was needfull." In consideration of these facts, the petitioner prays that the defendants be made to pay the tuition plus 5% interest.
